Bond nylon and numerous other substrate materials with Permabond’s new TA4550 structural acrylic adhesive! Nylon bonding nightmares will soon be a thing of the past with this adhesive, as TA4550 achieves a consistently strong, reliable bond on this substrate, along with many other plastics, composites and metals.

Nylon is a notoriously challenging material to bond. This is mainly because of its low surface wettability (also known as low surface energy) and hydrophobic nature. These factors make it difficult for an adhesive to properly key into the material and form a strong, resilient bond. Due to its breakthrough technology, however, Permabond TA4550 is able to overcome these challenges to provide a reliable bonding solution on this substrate.

More than just a nylon bonder

A two-part, 2:1, low-odour acrylic adhesive, Permabond TA4550 not only bonds well to nylon, but also to other plastics, composites and metals. It excels in bonding nylon to dissimilar substrates, therefore ensuring greater flexibility in product design where nylon features. The thixotropic nature of the adhesive gives it great controlled flow properties, allowing for greater accuracy in dispensing and in substrate alignment. It also means it is non-slumping, and thus ideal for vertical applications.

Another benefit of this nylon glue is that it requires no surface primers or additional surface treatment before bonding. This makes it ideal for high-speed production lines where efficiency is a must.

Lastly, but by no means least, is the outstanding strength and toughness of this adhesive. TA4550 has very high peel and shear strength on nylon. In fact, during testing, the nylon failed before the bond did! Its toughening also lends it incredible impact and vibration resistance post-cure. Its high elongation and peel strength make this adhesive particularly suitable for bonding dissimilar substrates where differential expansion and contraction could be an issue. The product also exhibits good environmental resistance and can withstand harsh environmental conditions and provide excellent long-term durability.

With TA4550, you therefore have a glue that will reliably bond nylon time after time, all the while offering fantastic bond strength and resistance against stress.
