Strong Adhesive: Two-Part Epoxy Adhesive

Permabond two-part epoxy adhesives are suitable for bonding a wide variety of materials. They are available with a range of different cure speeds to suit, as well as offering a high standard of performance for demanding bonding applications. They are used in virtually every industry, ranging from aerospace, automotive, electronics and electric motors, all the way to food contact applications.

Substrates

Permabond 2-component epoxy adhesives will bond most engineering materials. For example, they form excellent structural bonds to a wide variety of materials, including metals, composites, wood, and even some plastics.

Durability

Epoxies are an excellent choice for high-strength structural bonding because their excellent chemical and water resistance makes them suitable for harsh environmental conditions.

Applications

Epoxies have a variety of uses in the marine, automotive, aerospace, appliance, general assembly, and construction industries. Applications are diverse, for example bonding handles onto tools, aerospace structures, kitchen countertops, motor housings, and mounting brackets.

Material selection

The high strength durable bonds formed with a vast array of substrates increase the designer’s ability to choose the best substrates for the application.

Process

These epoxies can be easily dispensed with a static mixing nozzle, with no measuring or hand mixing required. As these adhesives cure at room temperature, a heat cure is not necessary. However, for cure times faster than those stated on the technical datasheet, a heat cure will shorten the curing time.

Joint design

The high shear and peel strength of the bonds, coupled with the increased stress distribution of adhesives as opposed to mechanical fasteners, greatly expands joint design possibilities.

Some benefits of two-part epoxy adhesives include:

  • High peel strength, which increases design versatility
  • High bond durability increases choice of materials
  • Rapid cure increases production rates
  • They’re solvent-free, which improves workplace safety
  • Room temperature cure reduces equipment & energy costs
  • Low odor improves the workplace environment
