More and more businesses and individuals are looking for safer, less hazardous ways of bonding their products together. This means finding adhesive products which are both safer for human health, as well as being better for the environment both during use and after disposal.

Permabond sells a range of non-hazardous adhesives. In Europe, these are sometimes known as ‘white label’ adhesives, meaning non-toxic products that have no hazard symbols or signal words on their safety data sheets (SDSs). The lack of such words and symbols gives these products a ‘white’ SDS, and therefore, no need for a COSHH/chemical health & safety assessment.

Our range of non-hazardous adhesives spans a few different product types, including anaerobics, cyanoacrylates, and MS polymers. The products listed below are certified non-hazardous in Europe – their status in other locations may vary, depending on local regulations.

Permabond Non-Hazardous Anaerobic Adhesives:

Anaerobic adhesives cure (harden) in the presence of metal and the absence of oxygen. They’re ideal for metal-to-metal bonding and are often used to bond and seal threaded joints, such as on screws and pipework.

A1058: A highly viscous adhesive designed for sealing threaded pipe joints. This product provides an instant pressure seal and has the benefit of being WRAS approved for contact with drinking water.

HM146: a WRAS-approved adhesive designed for sealing threaded pipe joints. Offers excellent temperature and chemical resistance.

MM070: An anaerobic threadlocker designed to lock and seal metal parts that may need to be taken apart later, for maintenance or repair. It offers high vibration resistance and is therefore great for replacing metal fasteners.

HM071: An anaerobic adhesive designed to lock and seal metal parts that require high strength locking to prevent vandalism, tampering or vibration loosening.

MH052: A threadsealant offering great chemical resistance. This product has the added benefits of WRAS drinking water approval, as well as approval for use with gaseous oxygen.

MH072: An anaerobic threadsealant designed for sealing of threaded pipework. Provides a great seal against gas, water, oils and other chemicals. Unlike PTFE tape or hemp, this product will not dry out, thus helping to extend the life of the components being bonded.

Permabond Non-Hazardous Cyanoacrylates:

Cyanoacrylates, colloquially known as superglue, cure by reacting with moisture present on surfaces and in the air. They cure and form a strong bond quickly.

940: A low-odour, non-fogging, non-blooming cyanoacrylate. ‘Blooming’ refers to the white substance that can form as cyanoacrylates react with the moisture present on the surface they’re on. ‘Fogging’ can occur next to bond lines, especially on hot and humid days. Permabond 940 removes these issues and therefore increases the rate of visually acceptable parts.

941: Similar to 940, but with a slightly higher viscosity and greater gap filling ability.

943: Similar to both 940 and 941, but with a higher viscosity and gap filling ability than both.

947: The highest viscosity of Permabond’s 94X range of cyanoacrylates, also with the biggest gap filling abilities.

Permabond Non-Hazardous MS Polymers

MS Polymers (MS = Modified Silicone) combine the benefits of polyurethanes and silicones to form a hybrid technology, despite not actually containing any silicone. They moisture cure at ambient temperatures and are often used in construction, DIY and the automotive industry.

MS359: We sell several different variations of this adhesive, depending on the application. Offering excellent weather resistance, MS359 forms strong, durable bonds on a wide variety of substrates including metals, woods and composites.

Key Benefits of Permabond Non-Hazardous Adhesives:

  • Improved workplace health and safety
  • Better for the environment
  • No need for COSHH/chemical safety assessment
  • Time & cost savings
  • High performance and durability
