{"id":3069,"date":"2021-10-12T15:54:45","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T15:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/permabond.com\/permabond-adhesives-for-polyolefins-are-also-great-on-rubber-pet-peek-and-acetal\/"},"modified":"2023-07-18T17:13:45","modified_gmt":"2023-07-18T17:13:45","slug":"permabond-adhesives-for-polyolefins-also-bond-rubber-pet-peek-and-acetal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/permabond.com\/es\/permabond-adhesives-for-polyolefins-also-bond-rubber-pet-peek-and-acetal\/","title":{"rendered":"Permabond adhesives for polyolefins are also great on rubber, PET, PEEK and acetal!"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Permabond\u2019s TA46XX adhesive range is well-known and very popular for its ability to bond low surface energy plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene, and PTFE, but Permabond adhesives for polyolefins also bond rubber, PET, PEEK, and even acetal (POM)!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><strong><u>Rubber bonding with TA46XX<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14301\" src=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/TA4611-tearing-rubber-Brighter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"271\" height=\"203\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><sub>Permabond TA4611 rubber failure on pull tests<\/sub><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This picture shows neoprene rubber RIPPING APART (substrate failure) rather than bond failure (where the adhesive would come away from either of the substrate materials without damaging the surface. This is neoprene rubber bonded with Permabond TA4611 to polypropylene with no surface preparation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Rubber is often a tricky material to bond. Typically we would only recommend Permabond cyanoacrylates for this task, but limitations include gap fill ability, underwater durability, and also difficulty in spreading over a large surface area. Solve all of these problems by simply bonding rubber with the TA46XX range instead:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Excellent environmental durability \u2013 good resistance to water<\/li>\r\n<li>Gap filling capability<\/li>\r\n<li>Can be spread over large areas. (Consider low-odour TA4631 for better worker comfort)<\/li>\r\n<li>No need to prime or pre-treat surfaces before bonding<\/li>\r\n<li>Can be used to bond rubbers such as neoprene, EPDM, nitrile, and butyl rubbers (but not silicone*).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><strong><u>Bonding low surface energy plastics with TA46XX<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Permabond\u2019s TA46XX range was originally designed for hard-to-bond plastics like polypropylene, polyethylene, and PTFE. However, we&#8217;ve found that they have excellent adhesion to acetal, PET-G, PET-P, and PEEK. Because TA4631 is clear in a thin bond line, it is ideal for bonding PET.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><strong><u>Other benefits of the TA46XX range<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Permabond&#8217;s TA46XX products are the most versatile adhesives in the Permabond range. Not only do they bond rubber and the difficult plastics mentioned above, these adhesives are also suitable for bonding metals, composites, wood, other plastics, concrete, and even tarmac!
