Each type has its own characteristics.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Adhesive Types that Bond Acrylic to Stainless Steel Include:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>UV Curable<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/tds\/uv632_tds-en\/?pdf=1\">Permabond UV632<\/a> has superb adhesion to acrylic and many other plastics. It also forms strong bonds to metals.\u00a0 It bonds acrylic to stainless steel in seconds with UV\/Visible light.\u00a0 Bonds are clear, strong, and absorb thermal expansion and contraction stresses.\u00a0 Although the bonds resist water, we don&#8217;t recommend long term exposure to the elements.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Structural Acrylic<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/tds\/ta4246_tds-en\/?pdf=1\">Permabond TA4246<\/a> is a two-part, room temperature curing acrylic adhesive with very high strength and excellent environmental durability. TA4246 is used with Initiator 46. Apply the initiator to the steel, and then, apply the TA4246 to the plastic. Next, join the parts. These strong bonds are almost colorless.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cyanoacrylate<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3183 size-thumbnail alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/910-65-years-young-3-150x150.webp\" alt=\"acrylic to stainless steel Permabond 910\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The original cyanoacrylate, <a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/tds\/910_tds-en\/?pdf=1\">Permabond 910<\/a> is a methyl cyanoacrylate that bonds metals, but also has high bond strength to acrylic.\u00a0 Cyanoacrylates have good non-polar solvent resistance.\u00a0 Bonds will have good resistance to substances like motor oil and gasoline.\u00a0 Cyanoacrylate bonds do not resist polar solvents well, so minimize exposure to substances such as water and alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>When bonding with cyanoacrylates, use only as much adhesive as is needed to cover the bond area.\u00a0\u00a0 A frosty white layer may coat the surrounding acrylic if there is excess adhesive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>General Plastic to Metal Bonding Summary<\/h2>\n<p>In summary, for indoor applications where UV light can reach the bond, consider Permabond UV632.\u00a0 Then for indoor or outdoor applications that require good environmental resistance and structural bond strength, Permabond TA4246 may be ideal.\u00a0 Lastly Permabond 910 forms instant bonds for indoor applications.<\/p>\n<p>Please note, the above-listed products are only a few examples of products that bond acrylic to stainless steel and are used here to demonstrate the varied technologies possible.\u00a0 To review your unique application requirements, please<a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/technical-support-request\/\"> contact Permabond.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Various adhesive types, including UV curable, structural adhesive, and cyanoacrylate bond acrylic to stainless steel.
