{"id":1975,"date":"2015-08-27T02:25:59","date_gmt":"2015-08-27T02:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/permabond.com\/component-epoxy-environmental-resistance\/"},"modified":"2025-02-11T10:49:05","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T10:49:05","slug":"component-epoxy-environmental-resistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/permabond.com\/es\/component-epoxy-environmental-resistance\/","title":{"rendered":"One Component Epoxy Environmental Resistance"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>When it comes to epoxy environmental resistance, <a href=\"#\">One Part Epoxies<\/a> are some of the most environmentally resistant adhesives.\u00a0 The adhesive bonds resist a variety of chemicals as well as high temperature conditions.\u00a0 One component epoxy adhesives provide high shear, peel, and impact strength, with excellent adhesion to metals and other substrates.\u00a0 They are often used to replace welding in structural applications.\u00a0 Some products are designed to flow as they are heated during the cure process to fill the bond area \u2013 other grades will remain in place without flowing (non-sag epoxies).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-one-component-epoxy-cure-schedules\">One Component Epoxy Cure Schedules<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">A typical cure schedule for <a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/fr\/products\/epoxies-single-part\/\">single component epoxies<\/a> is:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">130\u00b0C (266\u00b0F) 75 min<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">150\u00b0C (300\u00b0F) 60 min<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">170\u00b0C (338\u00b0F) 40 min<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Cure schedules for individual products are listed on the technical data sheet. Specialty products are available with lower temperature cure thresholds for bonding heat vulnerable parts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">More information on curing single component epoxies can be found here <a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/products\/epoxies-single-part\/\/\">https:\/\/permabond.com\/blog\/2014\/10\/14\/consistent-single-component-epoxy-curing\/<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Single component epoxies can also be cured by induction curing\u2026 see <a href=\"https:\/\/permabond.com\/products\/epoxies-single-part\/\">https:\/\/permabond.com\/blog\/2014\/12\/02\/induction-curing-epoxy-adhesives\/<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-one-component-epoxy-temperature-resistance\">One Component Epoxy Temperature Resistance<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">One component epoxies cure with heat.\u00a0 Most are fairly rigid with Shore Hardness of D80-D85 and typically retain 40% of their strength at 180\u00b0C (355\u00b0F).\u00a0 They will resist higher temperatures for limited time, providing there is not high stress on the joint, for example, during wave soldering or paint baking.\u00a0 When compared to room temperature epoxies, single component epoxies resist double the temperature.\u00a0 The maximum temperature resistance of regular two component room temperature cured epoxies is 80 to 100\u00b0C.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">\u201cHot strength\u201d shear strength tests performed on mild steel.
